Marilyn Marie Guldner joined the Lord on January 26, 2026, after a brief illness.
She was born on March 24, 1959, in Summit, New Jersey, the first child of George Frank and Barbara Jeanne Zorn. Marilyn was raised in Somerville and Medford Lakes, New Jersey. She attended Susquehanna University from 1977 to 1981, where she met her future husband, James K. Guldner, and later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981.
Marilyn and Jim were married on June 27, 1981. In 1984, they welcomed their son, Jason W. while Jim was serving with the U.S. Army in Hawaii. As a devoted military spouse, Marilyn continued to serve our nation alongside her family as they accompanied Jim on assignments with the U.S. Air Force in Texas, California, North Dakota, Delaware, and Japan, where Jim retired from military service in 1998.
After returning to Delaware, Marilyn and Jim became active members of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, where they shared a deep love of music and faithful service to God. Marilyn served on church council and various committees for many years, reflecting her profound commitment to her faith and community.
Throughout her life, Marilyn worked various jobs while supporting Jim’s military career and raising Jason. Upon returning to Delaware, in 1998 she worked as a retail associate at Macy’s, retiring following the COVID era. In retirement, she joyfully returned to her artistic passions, including painting, puzzles, games, gardening, and canning—always seeking to make the world a more beautiful and nurturing place for her family.
Marilyn will be remembered as a warm, loving, caring, and deeply God-driven woman whose kindness touched all who knew her, and she was the anchor of the Delaware Guldner Family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Guldner; her son, Jason W.; her mother, Barbara “Barb” Zorn; her sister, Beverly Kennedy; her brother, David Zorn; and numerous nieces and nephews from both families.
A celebration of life will be planned in the spring.
Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Marilyn Marie Zorn Guldner.
