Margaret “Sandra” Glover Hayter, 79, was rescued by the Lord on Saturday evening, December 27, 2025, while in the comfort of her home in Abingdon, Virginia after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

She was the daughter of the late James Arthur Glover and Mary Katherine Repass Glover of Abingdon, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; many loved aunts and uncles, including Mrs. Joann Repass, a cherished aunt and friend of Nashville.

Left to treasure Sandra’s memory are her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Lee Hayter of Abingdon, her daughter Amanda Nicole Laisure and husband Dave of Bristol, Virginia, and her beloved grandchildren Whitney Nicole Lane and husband Ben, Grant David Laisure, and Lauren Ashley Laisure. Also holding immeasurable memories are her sisters, Barbara Jane Glover, of Hampstead, North Carolina, Kathy Ann Wykoff and husband, Wayne of Knoxville, and Tammy Sue Glover of Abingdon, Virginia; nephews Bradley Robinson Wann (Wife Andrea and daughter, Greta) of Abingdon, Taylor Emerson Wykoff and Carter James Wykoff of Knoxville.

Sandra was a lifelong resident of Abingdon. She grew up in Abingdon Baptist Church but last attended First Christian Church of Abingdon. She attended William King and Abingdon High School. She worked for Harwood Manufacturing and made her lifelong friend there, Cathy Bell South, who preceded her in passing. When Harwood closed, she did works of service in the community, babysitting, and cleaning homes until 2022. With her servant heart, she helped care for her nephews and grandchildren as they grew up.

Acts 2:46 “They broke bread in their homes, they received their food together with glad and sincere hearts.”

Sandra loved to gather with family around a good meal and fellowship. Amanda will miss preparing some of her favorite dishes, a bond they had.

A prayer warrior, Sandra spent most of her days conversing with the Lord. If she knew you, she prayed for you. A devoted wife, loving Momma, proud Nanny, fun loving sister, cousin and friend, we will feel a vacancy no other could ever fill.

The family will receive guests from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at First Christian Church of Abingdon. A celebration of her life will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Crise officiating.

Pallbearers will include Dave Laisure, Grant Laisure, Ben Lane, Bradley Wann, Taylor Wykoff, and Carter Wykoff.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Wykoff, Tom Repass, Tim Repass, Joe Repass, Sam Repass, and Tom Glover.

Sandra was a contributor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to their research hospital. Donations can be sent to 262 Danny Thomas PI, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Margaret “Sandra” Glover Hayter.
