
Kitty Thomas Castle, age 95, went to her heavenly home on January 31, 2025.
Kitty was born October 9, 1929, in Hansonville, VA to Glen Edward Thomas and Mattie Lou Dorton Thomas. After her marriage to Don Castle in 1948, she lived her life as a homemaker in Lebanon, VA. Her hobbies included walking, going to Hardee’s with friends, TN Vols football and attending her great-grandchildren's ballgames. Kitty was an aunt to 34 and great-aunt to 74.
In addition to her parents, Kitty is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, A.D. (Don) Castle; brother: William (Bill) Thomas; sisters: Elizabeth Dorton, Jeanette (Jetsie) Dorton, Ann Runion, Jane Wilson, Vivian Osborne, Dolly Thomas; nephews: James (Jim) Dorton, Edd Dorton, Tony Runion, Malcolm Thomas, Randall (Rooster) Fletcher; and nieces: Robin Wilson and Pam Osborne.
Those left behind to cherish Kitty’s memory are daughter: Donna Castle of Johnson City, TN; granddaughters: Tara Austin Burns and husband Matt of Gate City, VA and Leah Austin of Kill Devil Hills, NC; 3 great-grandchildren: Jake Burns, Emma Burns and Parker Austin; sister: Betty Haynes and husband Sonny of Bowling Green, KY; special friends: Becky Sword, Peggy Stillwell, Lorene Easterly, Hattie Artrip, Kelli Salyer, Dora Noel, Lexi Cole, and Pam Yarber.
The family wishes to extend special gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at Commonwealth Senior Living, Abingdon, VA, Jill Baker (MSA Hospice) and Ted Castle (Castle Mortuary Services.)
Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Russell Memorial Cemetery, Lebanon, VA with Pastor Tom Edwards and Randy Williams officiating.
