Linda Sue Rector

January 14, 1945 – May 14, 2025

Linda Sue Rector, known to many as “Momma Sue,” age 80, of Suwanee, GA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-five years, V. T. Rector III, and her parents, Ross E. Davis and Madeline Bailey Davis, and her siblings, Richard, Patty, and Deanna.

Linda Sue is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Kimberly and Marc Allard of Suwanee, GA; Richard and Emily Rector of Hoover, AL; and Kelly Sue and Jay Young of Norfolk, VA, and “second” son, Allen Sinclair of Trinity, NC. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Marianne, Thomas, and Christopher Allard; Ava Kate and Ross Rector; and Cameron and Jana Young.

Born on January 14, 1945, in Ironton, Ohio, Linda Sue graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Glade Spring, VA in 1962 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Radford College in 1966. She spent more than 35 years helping returning students obtain their GED, a calling through which she empowered and uplifted countless individuals. Her dedication to education and her students made a lasting impact on so many lives.

A member of Level Creek United Methodist Church in Suwanee, GA, Linda Sue lived her faith through quiet acts of kindness, encouragement, and presence. Her warmth, generosity, and nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family; she was a mother figure to many and a friend to hundreds whose lives were brightened by her care. Linda Sue’s legacy is one of love, grace, and connection. Whether through a card in the mail, a kind word, or a shared photo, she had a way of making everyone feel seen and special.

A memorial service celebrating Linda Sue’s life will be held at Level Creek United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 13 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to the V.T. & Sue Rector Memorial Fund, a scholarship fund for the students of Washington County, VA, would be greatly appreciated:
