Linda Jeneanne Addison Catron

Meadowview, Virginia

Linda Jeneanne Addison Catron passed away surrounded by family and friends in the early hours of Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

She was born July 12, 1946 to the late Ben Thomas Addison and Viola Lorena Litz Addison in Emory, Va. She was the wife of the late Fred Milton Catron, Jr. for 51 years.

Linda was a member of the Meadowview Volunteer Fire Department, serving as treasurer for many years. She was an EMT and an associate member of the Glade Spring Life Saving Crew.

Many times, she would crawl into a crashed vehicle to comfort the victim and cover them with a blanket for protection against broken glass while fellow fire fighters worked through the process of extrication.

Linda spent many hours along the sidelines of football fields throughout southwest Virginia as she rode with ambulance crews to Little Rebel, and Patrick Henry junior varsity and varsity football games, as well as home games at Emory & Henry College. She was there to provide care for injured players, cheerleaders, band members and even spectators.

She taught Sunday School for several years at Emory United Methodist Church and she assisted in operating the family business, Addison’s, in Emory.

Her t-shirt drawer was predominantly pink as Linda was a breast cancer survivor. She had just recently recovered from having a benign tumor removed from her spine and having to relearn to walk.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, old western movies, roses and collecting images and figurines of swans and hummingbirds. She also enjoyed genealogy, researching not only her own family history, but those of several friends and neighbors.

She is survived by son, Fred M. "Mick" Catron III; daughter, Cristal Jeneanne Catron and partner Mark Callahan; baby brother Ben T. Addison, Jr. and wife, Ginger Bingham Griffith Addison; honorary grandchildren, Kelly, Katie, Kendal and Kerry Morton, six honorary great-grandchildren; several treasured cousins, many special friends; faithful feline companions Honey and Sunny, and granddog Rennie.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, August 14 at the Meadowview Fire Hall just off the village square.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Meadowview Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 84, Meadowview, VA 24361.

Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia is honored to serve the family of Linda Catron.
