Abingdon, Va.
Lewis “L.B.” Atkins, 78, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
L.B. was born on October 3, 1942, to the late Fred Lewis Atkins and Joyce Stallard Atkins. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Judith Atkins and Peggy Atkins.
He was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Va., and attended William King High School. L.B. was a former employee of Quality Printers in Bristol, Va., and later worked in the printing department at the Washington County News. He was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church and the Washington County Auxiliary. L.B. served as president of the Appalachian Independent Center in Abingdon, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Atkins; one daughter, Marisa J. Atkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Friday, August 20, 2021 at Frost Funeral Home
with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to the Washington County Auxiliary, P.O. 932, Abingdon, VA. 24212 and the Washington County Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 65, Abingdon, VA 24212.
