Leverne Taylor

Abingdon, Virginia.


Mr. Leverne Taylor, 81, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2022 at his home in Abingdon, Virginia.


Leverne Taylor was born January 12, 1941 to the late Allique Wilson Taylor and Ike Taylor in Timmonville, South Carolina. Leverne, better known as Lee, relocated to Boston, Massachusetts. From Boston, Lee relocated to Paterson, New Jersey where he was employed by Patterson Tobacco for 40 years until he went to work for and retired from Pine and Lester.


Lee lived a full and fun life. He used to love to sing and dance along with James Brown and loved the Williams Brothers “Cooling Water.”


In addition to his mother and father, Lee is preceded in death by five siblings.


Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ellen Hannibal Taylor; two sons, Leverne, Jr. of Phenix, Alabama and Tyrone Taylor (Kimi) of Timmonville, South Caronlina; one daughter, Kimberly Taylor; five brothers, Charles (Aggie) Taylor, Pastor Warren (Bernetha) Taylor, Mitchel (Victoria) Taylor, Junius Taylor, and Larry Taylor all of Timmonville, South Carolina; the matriarch of the family, Ms. Lula Mae Davis of Dazzle, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Markitta, Andreka, Taevon, Laverne, Arthur, and Kisa; he also leaves eight step-grandchildren to cherish his memory, Jaheen, Earl, Racheeda, all of Abingdon and Shamara, Shydai, Precious, Dinnick, and Javon all of Paterson, New Jersey; one step-daughter, Stephanie Hannibal; 13 great grandchildren; two special friends, Orie Hanna and Jose; a host of nieces, nephews, and coworkers also survive.


A visitation will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Warren Taylor officiating. Interment will be held privately at Knollkreg Memorial Park.
