Lester "Lee" Saul

Lester “Lee” Saul, 83, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.


He was born December 31, 1939, in Abingdon, Virginia to the late Carl and Elizabeth Eden Saul. He was a graduate of the class of 1958 from William King High School and Emory & Henry College class of 1962. He remained a life-long resident of Washington County and retired from VDOT after almost 40 years of service. Lee also enjoyed playing baseball for Abingdon Fire Department, the Jay Cee's, and the Civitans in his youth and then later went on to coach for the Civitans for many years. He was encouraged by his uncle, Chief Bob Eden, whom he thought of as a father. Lee also was a Royal Member of the Moose Lodge and Woodmen of the World.


Lee is survived by one son, Michael Lee Saul; two sisters, Eva Kay Saul and Iva Mae Cox; extended family, Allen, Julie and Matt Stanley and Leslie and Ada Bryant; cousins, Mark and Ann Barrett and Cindy and Rick Perrine; special niece, Pam Brewster; nephews, Timothy Cox and Nathan Cox.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Bufford officiating. Interment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park.


Timothy Cox, Nathan Cox, Todd Hargroves, Allen Stanley, Mark Barrett, and Jeff Fields will serve as pallbearers.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
