Kyle Thomas Grimsley, 79, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2024 at his home in Meadowview surrounded by his wife, daughter, and grandson. Born to the late Leonard and Virginia Grimsley of Raven, Virginia, Kyle spent most of his life being The Battery Man. Kyle also proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Kyle was known for his infectious personality, jokes, and his love for helping others. Kyle lived a life grounded in his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, which guided his every action. Kyle never met a stranger and could light up a room with his laugh. Kyle had a passion for music and entertaining. In his younger years, he was the lead singer and guitarist for several bluegrass bands. He loved playing music with his late father Leonard, who played fiddle for him. Kyle also directed his church choir for several years. Kyle had a love for shopping for stylish clothing and shoes, and was known for wearing bright and loud colors.
In addition to his parents, Kyle was also preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Grimsley, Dennis Grimsley, and Kenneth Grimsley; and brother-in-law, Carlous Horne.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Diane, of Meadowview; daughter, Melissa Dacus and husband Tyler of Dacusville, SC; his pride and joy, grandson Cooper Dacus; brothers Keith Grimsley and wife Judy of Meadowview, and James Grimsley and wife Lisa of Abingdon, VA; sister, Carol Horne of Travelers Rest, SC; nephew, Jay Horne and wife Joye of Columbia, SC; nieces, Anita Fisher of Hendersonville, NC, Tiffany Grimsley of Williamston SC, Cassidy Grimsley of Abingdon, VA, Madison Murray of Abingdon VA; great nephews, Andy Horne and wife Kayla of Simpsonville, SC and Zack Sherman of Hendersonville, NC; great nieces, Sidney Shelton and husband Ryan of Pacolet, SC, Libby Cannon and husband James of Columbia. SC; one great-great nephew Reid Horne; six special sisters-in-law, three special brothers-in-law, and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Frost Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Frost Funeral Home with his nephew, Jeff Fritz, officiating. A committal will follow the service at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, VA. Full Military Honors will be rendered by the Virginia Army National Honors Guard and the Marion VFW Post #4667.
Pallbearers include David Morrison, Tim Widener, Andy Horne, Zack Sherman, Ryan Shelton, James Cannon and Ryan Hampton.
Honorary Pallbearers include Jimmy Fritz, Hobert Spivey and the loyal customers of K & K Battery.
Kyle leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to both his family and his Savior, Jesus Christ. In his passing, we take comfort knowing he is now at peace with the Lord.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, especially Taylor and Samantha, Veterans Affairs Home-Based Primary Care, especially Dr. Newberry and his team, and the staff of Intrepid Healthcare.
