Updated: May 29

Kyle Hopkins Easterling, 95, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025.

Born May 23, 1929, in Wise County, Virginia, Kyle lived a long and meaningful life grounded in faith, family, and service. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Greta Lenore Easterling, who passed in 2022.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Kyle spent much of his career with Armour Foods and later Dial Corporation, where he was known for his reliability, warmth, and enduring work ethic. He took great pride in helping others, whether in his profession or by mowing neighbors' lawns well into his 90s. He was most at home in his workshop, fixing or building things, and was always ready to lend a hand.

Kyle was a man of many interests and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about sports, especially football, basketball, and golf, and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, grouse hunting, and riding motorcycles.

He was a faithful member of the Church of God for over 66 years, first as a charter member of Anderson Church of God in Bristol, and later at the First Church of God on White's Mill Road in Abingdon. His steady presence and kind spirit were felt deeply by all who worshipped alongside him.

He is survived by his daughters, Kylene Hill (Joseph), Dana Frye (Mark), and Julie Rutledge (Chet); grandchildren, Erica Hill (Michael), Whitney Taff (John), Isaac Hill (Nancy), Kirsten Frye (Liz), and Ian Frye (Chelsea); Jacob Rutledge (Tai), Maggie Kissinger (Hunter); and great-grandchildren, John and Gretchen Taff, Stella and Tyson Rutledge, Zyah and Zoey Kissinger. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will remember him fondly.

Kyle's legacy lives on in the lives he touched through his steady hands, open heart, and the joy he found in time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his deep love, gentle humor, and the quiet strength that guided his life.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 6, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Abingdon Church of God, 500 Whites Mill Road, Abingdon, Virginia, 24210. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Bob Neace officiating.
