Abingdon, Virginia
Kimberly Dawn Andis (Nunley), age 52, of Abingdon, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2023, after a courageous ten-year battle with cancer. Kim was born April 17, 1971, to William Shona Nunley and the late Josie Tweed Nunley. She was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Virginia and a well-loved and respected member of her Greendale community.
Kim was profoundly devoted to her job at Abingdon Internal Medicine for nearly 30 years where she nurtured life-long friendships and connections. Upon retiring, she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a beautician and licensed cosmetologist. Kim’s time at Alana’s House of Hair was anything but work, as she spent her time in laughter, friendship, and fellowship with all of her clients and colleagues.
Out of all of her titles, jobs, and endeavors, Kim’s favorite titles were “mom” and “wife.” She was deeply devoted to her husband of 33 years and high-school sweetheart, Blake Andis and her children, Dylan and Kori. Her love for her family was above all else, except for her love for the Lord. She lived her life fervently for Christ and endeavored to share her story of faith, strength, and perseverance with all. Through years of trials and tribulations, Kim remained steadfast in her faith and always trusted in God’s plan for her. Kim’s presence was a ray of sunshine to all she encountered and through all of the challenges that life presented her with, she was a devout steward for the Lord, sharing words of wisdom with all who would listen. Kim wrote in one of her journals:
“There are times I want to give up! The bottom line is the only way I can get up and go through this is because of what Christ has already done. No circumstances will change who I am in Christ. The devil will try and sometimes I feel like he is going to win. Regardless of what we go through, God is always with us.”
In addition to her mother, Kim is preceded in death by her sister, Michelle Nunley Thayer; her brother, Anthony Shona Nunley, father-in-law, Edgar Eugene “Gene” Andis; and mother-in-law, Wilma Andis.
Kim is survived by her loving husband, Randall Blake Andis; two children, Dylan Blake Andis (fiancé Megan Fleenor) and Kori Grace Andis; her father, William “Billy” Shona Nunley; brothers-in-law, John Wade Andis and Kevin Douglas Thayer; sister-in-law, Megan Jones Nunley; niece, Hannah Thayer Ford (Jacob Ford); nephews, Tyler McKinley Thayer, Luke Anthony Nunley, and Parker David Nunley.
Visitation with the family will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023, at Greendale Chapel (Porterfield Hwy.). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Greendale Chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Burial will follow at Greendale Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roger Cline, Chuck Farmer, Steve Fulton, L.J. Doss, Bobby Arnold, and Jason Shepherd. Honorary Pallbearers are employees of the Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office and the many doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for Kim throughout her decade long battle with cancer.
