Kenton Sherwood Rector, 83, of Abingdon, VA. passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He proudly served in the United States Army where he played in the Army Band in Camp Irwin, California. He was a long-term resident of Smyth County where he was the owner and operator of Rector’s Donuts in Chilhowie. He later retired to Washington County where he resided on Honey Locust Farm as a farmer. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed talking with friends about local evens and the stock market.
Survivors include his wife, Reva Jean Martin Rector; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Scott Baker; grandson, Travis Asbury and wife Faith; and great-grandson, Leif.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Washington County Animal Shelter or to United Way of Southwest Virginia.
