Kenneth O. Reynolds, 84, of Abingdon, VA, went to be with the Lord after passing away peacefully on May 21, 2025, with family by his side. He was lovingly cared for at home by his family as his health declined in recent months.
Born on December 15, 1940, to Ross and Stella Scyphers Reynolds, Kenneth was raised in Abingdon and graduated from Greendale High School. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1962. That same year, he married the love of his life, Deanna Burgess. Kenneth and Deanna raised three children: Todd (Abingdon), Hope (Atlanta, GA) and Ellen (Raleigh, NC).
Kenneth was known for his integrity, honesty, and commitment to faith, family, and community. These values guided his work, his relationships, and his service.
Through his career with Farmers Home Administration, Kenneth provided opportunities for rural families and communities. His true calling, however, was as a lifelong farmer. He stewarded his farm with devotion as he cared for his sheep and cattle daily.
Kenneth lived a life of service to his community. He served as President of Washington County Fair, Chairman of the Washington County Board of Supervisors, and many local, state, and regional agricultural organizations. He was a lifelong member of Abingdon United Methodist Church, where his faith remained a steady part of his life.
Kenneth is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Joyce Reynolds Ryan (Lexington, KY). He is survived by his wife, Deanna Burgess Reynolds; his children, Todd, Hope Reynolds Arbery (Chris), Ellen Reynolds Griffin (Dan); eight grandchildren, Stephen Reynolds (Jesse), Phillip Reynolds (Amanda), Katie Messer (Zak), Nicholas Reynolds, Mason Arbery, Scott Arbery, Lillie Griffin, and Ryan Griffin; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Rebecca Reynolds Dudley (Dick) (Seattle, WA), and five nephews and their families.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Abingdon United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon, with a reception in the fellowship hall. The graveside service will be at Knollkreg cemetery immediately following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abingdon United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24211.
Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mr. Kenneth O. Reynolds.
