Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Blackburn

Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Blackburn, 51, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 6, 1967, in Abingdon, Va., and was a graduate of Holston High School. Kenny was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He was currently employed at Hirschfeld Industries in Bristol, Va. Kenny loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed working in his yard, especially planting flowers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Wayne Blackburn.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Charlotte Blackburn of Abingdon, Va.; his mother, Wanda Blackburn and Ralph Smith of Damascus, Va.; three children, Josh Blackburn and fiancé, Megan Petty of Bristol, Va., Christy Riggs and husband, Jeremiah of Bristol, Va., and Laura Nickels and husband, Derek of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, David Lynn Blackburn and wife, Traci of Elizabethton, Tenn. and Don Blackburn and wife, Lisa of Damascus, Va.; one sister, Kimberly Hand and husband, Duane of Damascus, Va.; three grandchildren, Peyton Taylor, Abagail McCroskey and Malachi Malina; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Michael Canter and Pastor David Griffin officiating. Committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.

Friends may visit anytime at the family home in Abingdon or the home of his mother in Damascus.

Pallbearers will be Derek Nickels, Jeremiah Riggs, Zachary Fleenor, Lewis Hand, Devon Hand, Jacob Hand and Carson Blackburn.
