Kathryn Wilson Baker, 83, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at her residence with family by her side.


She was a lifelong resident of Washington County Virginia and was the daughter of the late Thomas Wilson and Esther Barr Wilson.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. Baker; her brothers, Warren Wilson and Homer Wilson; as well as her sister Helen Brooks.


She graduated from Liberty Hall School. Out of high school, she was employed at Murphy Hosiery Mill in Damascus, VA, Iron Mountain Stoneware in Laurel Bloomery, and Masco in Atkins, VA, where she retired. She was a member of the family gospel group, The Christianaires and Beulah Baptist Church.


Kathryn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, relaxing on the porch, taking care of flowers, animals, and watching over the farm.


She is survived by three daughters, Millie Thompson and her husband Larry, Sandy Sullivan and her husband James (Rabbit), Karen Jones and her husband Mike, all of Damascus, Virginia.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kristen Watson and her partner Travis, Kaylen Sullivan and her partner Jeremy Farrow, Justin Thompson and his partner Kat Thompson, Logan Sullivan, Alexis Jones and her partner Zac Taylor, and Taylor Jones; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Grindstaff of Abingdon, Hazel Gentry of Mountain City, Betty Wright of Damascus, and Joan Smith of Abingdon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.


The family of Ms. Kathryn Baker will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel, a Celebration of Life will follow at 6:00 P.M. with her nephew, Tim Smith officiating.
