Katherine Anice Otey Monk, 51, passed away January 08, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va.
Mrs. Monk was born August 23, 1968 to the late Billie Otey and Katherine Goodson Gobble. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and gardening. Mrs. Monk was a caregiver for several years. She was a member of Mount Calvary Church in Abingdon, Va.
Including her parents she is preceded in death by, two step-sisters, Dinah Puett and Melissa Gobble.
Survivors include, husband, Elbert Monk; son, Paul Scarberry; daughter, Laura Stout and husband Dustin; one sister, Betty Russell and husband Tommy; one brother, Bill Otey; two step-sisters, Mary Russell and Shirley Mims; three step-brothers, James, Donald, and Joe Gobble; also several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kirby Miller, Preacher Paul Price and Preacher Corey Dye officiating. A committal service will follow to the Jerry Monk Cemetery in Swords Creek, Va.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Scarberry, Jeremy Monk, Eddie Monk, Jerry Monk, Skylar Bentley, and Josh Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Collins and Danny Scarberry.
The family ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
