Karen Leigh Shipley Andis

Karen Leigh Shipley Andis, 75, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 14, 2025, after a battle with a brief illness.

Karen was a lifelong native of Kingsport, Tennessee who was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, and later in life Tusculum University where she earned the honors of Magna Cum Laude. She had been a loyal employee of Eastman Chemical Company for 31 years before her retirement. After retiring, Karen joined the community of Smith Creek in Bristol, Virginia to assist in the running of the family business. During this time Karen met many people that became close dear friends. She was loved by all. She had such a love for her hummingbirds and wildflowers.

Karen is preceded in death by her mother Mildred Poore Shipley, father Frank Eugene Shipley, and brothers, Dane and Randy Shipley.

She is survived in death by her loving husband of 52 years Bobby Wayne Andis; daughter Ashley Andis Fields and husband Chris Fields; grandson Timothy Fields and fiancé Mercedes Adrian; great-grandson Atlas Wayne Fields; step-granddaughter Jessica Fields; and step-great grandchildren Strom Smith and Juniper Keene. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Karen had many special close dear friends that will miss her loving spirit and, of course her special loving dog Sophie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with service to follow at 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating.

Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at East Lawn Cemetery in Kingsport, Tennessee. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 A.M.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Fields, Woodrow “Rooster” Brewer, Jason “Bubbles” Mumpower, Blake Andis, Wade Andis, and Lukas Daughterty.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Fields, Fred Andis, Joe Andis, and Mike Gill.
