Joseph “Joe” William Puckett, 73, of Emory, Virginia, passed away on June 19, 2025. Born on November 2, 1951, in Abingdon, Virginia, Joe was the son of the late Clarence “Mouse” Puckett and Nannie Mae Tilson Puckett.

A proud graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Joe began his working life alongside his father in road construction. He later joined Columbus McKinnon Corporation in Damascus before moving on to General Engineering Company in Abingdon, where he dedicated over four decades of service before retiring after 42 years.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Trilla Defriece-Puckett; brothers Zane Puckett and Dave Puckett; and niece Shelby Howell.

Joe had a deep love for college football, especially attending Emory & Henry games with his tailgate friends. He found joy in cooking, gardening, tending to his yard and flowers, and sharing time and stories with his buddies.

Pallbearers will include his tailgate friends, former coworkers, and lifelong companions — a true testament to the friendships he built and cherished throughout his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mr. Joseph “Joe” William Puckett.
