Joe Ann Gipson Rasnake, age 77, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 6, 2021 at her home.
She was born August 11 ,1943, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George Gipson and Garnett Lawhurn Gipson. She moved from Kentucky to the Abingdon area 50 years ago and had resided in Smyth County for the past several years. She was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Kenneth Rasnake; and one brother, Gary Lee Gipson.
Survivors include her four children, Mary Rasnake Holmes and husband, Charles of Tannersville, VA,
Jody Rasnake and wife Lena of Abingdon, Rebecca Rasnake Milhorn and husband Robert, of Kingsport, TN, and Danny Rasnake and wife Esther of Meadowview; two sisters, Julia Riddle and Carolyn Snavely; three brothers, Donald Gipson, Ray Gipson, and David Gipson and wife Debbie; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Greendale Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express special thanks to her friends and neighbors, James and Betty Hunt.
