Jerry Stophel, age 71, passed away on November 1, 2024. Jerry had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing, and enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, including working with bees and woodworking. He also had a passion for golfing, but above all, he cherished the time spent with his family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Minnie Stophel, and two brothers, Eddie Sowder, Johnny Sowder.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ann Stophel; his daughter Jessica Hurd and son-in-law Tim; his beloved grandson Brady Hurd; his special niece and nephew, Tammy Phillippi and Tim Sowder; his brother Frank Stophel; his sister Ginger; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Frost Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Holston Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Darius Bowman officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Frost Funeral Home by 1:45 P.M. to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Tim Fleenor, Aaron Phillippi, Clay Allison, David Sullins, Gary Pippen, Daniel Weddel, and Taz. Honorary pallbearers include his co-workers at Wolf Hills Fabrication, Mark and Larry Trogdon, and all of his dear family and friends.
