Jackie Lee Hurd, 76, passed away on December 30, 2023.

Jack was born on January 12, 1947 to Oliver “Perk” Hurd and Fannie Kate Hurd.  He was born in Russell County but spent most of his life as a resident of Glade Spring, VA.  Jack was a brick mason for many years and worked on numerous homes and commercial buildings throughout southwest Virginia.  He was known for being the life of every conversation and a friend to everyone he met.  His charisma was unique and people flocked to him in almost every situation.  He was an avid outdoorsman and could be found hunting or fishing whenever he had time.

His family remembers him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.  Jack was married to Judy Holley Hurd for 53 years, and he loved her dearly.  He was the father to one child, David Hurd, and he spent his life devoted to his son.  He was blessed with three grandchildren, Peyton, Jacob and Molly, and his role as a grandfather was perhaps his favorite job he ever had. He showed them love at every turn.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Kate as well as his older brother Gene.  He is survived by his wife Judy of Glade Spring, his son David and his wife Wendy of Radford, VA and his grandchildren Peyton, Jacob and Molly.  He is also survived by his siblings Doris Hurd, Mary Phibbs, Ernest Hurd, Linda Yarber, Maxie Hayden and Marvin Hurd, all of Washington County, VA.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 on Tuesday January, 2 at Frost Funeral Home with the funeral to follow the visitation.  The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 3 at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery.   Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Jackie Hurd.
