Ida Ruth Tharp, 94, of Bristol, Tennessee passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024.
She was born in Bristol, Virginia on May 13, 1930, to the late Edgar Brummett and Callie
Bowman Brummett.
Ida graduated from Greendale High School and had a love and strong passion for creativity. She realized her dream of entrepreneurship by opening and operating Chik-N-Little for 31 years in Abingdon, Virginia where her passion for cooking was evident in her dishes. Outside the restaurant, Ida loved shopping, gardening, telling stories, and camping, but above all, she adored her family and gathering with them to share her love of food and fellowship. After retirement, Ida and Larry traveled the country and saw many beautiful places, but her favorite place was the beach. “Your love will always be with us in our hearts and our
memories until we meet again in Heaven.”
In addition to her parents, Ida is preceded in death by her husbands, James Paul Lupo and Larry Allen Tharp; brothers, Cecil Brummett, Kenneth Brummett, Gene Brummett, Mack Brummett, Wilmer Brummett, and Junior Brummett; three sisters, Edith Mae Fleenor, Dorothy Carrier, and Ann Marie Vankovich (ReRe); beloved daughter Susan Diane Ryder, grandson Chad Necessary, and son-in- law Craig Ryder.
Ida is survived by her daughters, Debbie Lambert of Bristol, TN (Bob Viers) and MaryAnn Lupo of Jacksonville, Fla; son William Clayman of Abingdon, VA (Kim); her grandchildren, whom she loved so very much, Nicholas Lee Lambert, Lauren Elizabeth Lambert, Ryan Dawson Lambert, Trisha Necessary, and Alex Clayman, her beloved sister Patricia Hartsock (Fred Sullivan); special nieces and nephews who meant the world to her, Steve Vankovich, Ken Tolbert, Benji Tolbert, Debbie Tolbert, Davida Vankovich, Elisa Hartsock, Debbie Brummett, Cindy Frerichs, Debbie Fawley, Jeff Hartsock, Bill Brummett and many more; a very special family friend that has been Mom’s Angel, Cindy Spradlin.
Ida is also survived by many great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Forest Hills Memory
Gardens Pavilion with Pastor Dan Birchfield officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to arrive by 12:45 P.M.
Steve Vankovich, Ryan Lambert, Nick Lambert, Ken Tolbert, Jeff Harsock, and Mark Dotson will serve as pallbearers.
