Hyskel “Paw” “Hike” Orfield, 77, of Abingdon, Va., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019. He was surrounded by his family whom he loved so well.
Hike was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Va., an avid coon hunter, and the most dedicated fan of Damascus Little League and Holston High School softball. He was a member of Antioch House of Prayer and loved to serve the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan Orfield and Fannie Harris Orfield and eight siblings.
Hike is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Orfield; daughter, Annette Orfield; son, Tommy Orfield and wife Kathren. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Montana Strickland and husband Leroy; Maggie Orfield, Laura Roark and Alex Roark, as well as two great grandchildren, Reese Strickland and Crew Strickland; two siblings, Mabel Minnick of Texas and Dale Orfield of Abingdon, Va.; and two special neighbors, Mike Hubbard and Raymond Woodward.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Jason Nunley officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Strickland, Matthew Nickels, Tony Roark, Jason McCall, Anthony Price and David Price.
