Howell “Dickie” Whitt Chaney, 69, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his home in Abingdon, Virginia.
He was born June 17, 1953, to the late Sonny Paul Chaney and Darlene Henderson. Howell loved the outdoors, especially fishing and golfing. He was a truck driver for over 40 years and a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother and father, Howell was preceded in death by his step-father, Tom Henderson and one sister; Donna Lambert.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Childress Chaney; brother, Danny (Regina) Chaney; sister, Debbie Lampkins; his children, Amy (Josh) Street, Christopher (Elizabeth) Childress, and Whitt Chaney; grandchildren, Chance Childress, Cole Street, Hunter Street, Rylee Street, and Callie Street; one great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Street and one on the way in July; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vickie Keene, Rita (Don) Matney, Mona (Eugene) Anderson; many nieces, nephews, and his church families at Beulah Baptist and Holston Valley Baptist Churches.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Beulah Baptist Church (19126 Monroe Rd. Meadowview, VA 24361). A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Dwayne Dillard and Pastor Jason Dunn officiating.
