Homer Allen Sexton, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 8, 2024, at his home.
Homer was born on October 20, 1934, to the late F.K. Sexton and Mae Allen Sexton.
Homer will be remembered as a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Central Baptist church, member of the IBEW Local 934. He also enjoyed tending and working on his farm. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Edward Sexton and Thomas “Tom” Sexton; sister, Edith Sparling; grandson, Alex Sneed; and one son-in-law, Doug Stine.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Sexton; mother-in-law, Gay Childers; three daughters, LaVonne Newton (Roy), Lisa Stine (Paul), and Lynn Sneed (Jeff); son, James Sexton; sister-in-law, Peggy Pippin (Roy). Survivors also include his seven grandchildren, Josh Trent, Whitney Playl, Cory Hinchey, Terra Sexton, Alychia Sexton, Sean Sneed, and Megan Myers; as well as, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Les Ketron officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 A.M.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Mr. Sexton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Washington County Life Saving Crew.

Doris and family I am so very sorry to hear this today. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. You and your family were my second family growing up! I cannot thank you enough for all the love and kindness you showed me Homer will be forever missed!
