They then retired to Lewisburg, Tennessee, where they enjoyed a farm raising Angus cattle. For the past two years they resided together in Abingdon, Virginia.

Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Fredrick Hartman, her daughter in law, Dreama Lyon, and three cherished grandchildren, Kyna Lyon, Dustin Lyon, and Timothy Nowak.

She is survived by her husband, Archie Lyon, and her sisters, Susan Fischer (Charles Fischer) and Helga Hartman. She leaves five children and their families: David Lyon; Sandra Nowak and her children, Seth Nowak (Morgan Nowak), Kim, Adam, Carolyn, and Jason Nowak; Lynn Nosbisch (John Nosbisch), and their children, Joshua, Luke, Joy, and Andrew Nosbisch; Ronald Lyon and his children Caitlyn Stewart (Devyn Stewart) and great grandsons Bo, Arthur, and Leo Stewart, Nathan Lyon (Catherine Lyon), and great grandson, Issac Lyon, Christine and Rachel Lyon; and Charlene Gross (Greg Gross) and their children, Gretchen Keefe (Duncan Keefe) and great granddaughter, Andi Keefe, and Kurtis Gross.
