Helen (Jane) Tolliver Pruitt

Meadowview, Virginia

Helen (Jane) Tolliver Pruitt, 87 peacefully accepted her wings on the morning of August 8th with her exceptional care giving and loving daughter, Jennifer, loving sister Peggy and caregiver Miranda Johnson holding her hands after a courageous battle with dementia and surviving lung cancer when the odds were against her. Helen never met a stranger and welcomed all into her home and heart. Helen was born on October 1st, 1934 and was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend to many. Helen always found it her mission to take care of others and never missed an opportunity to fix a good meal and smile as her family and friends enjoyed it.

Helen was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Willie Boyd and Clemmie C. Tolliver, the love of her life and husband Tyler Pruitt (Who she couldn’t wait to be reunited with), Earl “Jack” Tolliver and Teddy “Joe” Tolliver and special brother in law Denton Duncan.

Survivors include her precious daughter Jennifer Nelson and husband Mark (Who never missed an opportunity to take Jane for a ride (No convertibles because it messed her hair up) that she believed always ended up near a river), Peggy Duncan, sister and exceptional caregiver, sister Patricia “Teresa” Fleenor and husband Johnny, brothers Don Tolliver and wife Lafaitha, Jackie Tolliver and wife Diane, Johnny Tolliver and special friend Glenda Woods, Larry Tolliver and Clyde “Bunnie” Tolliver along with chosen grandchildren Cody Johnson and wife Miranda and chosen great grandchildren Landon and Cora Johnson (Who loved and visited with her during her illness) along with many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Helen lived a great life on earth never asking or expecting anything from others but always sharing her kindness and love with her family, neighbors and friends. In the face of her illness she had the sweetest attitude and never complained. Helen lived life with no regrets and deep happiness that she was a born again Christian and loved her family.

The family would like to thank the many doctor’s, caregivers, and dedicated staffs to include Dr. W. Mark Handy, Miranda Johnson, Caris Hospice Staff, Marsha Wright, Peggy Duncan and Kathy Hardin.

In Lieu of flowers for Helen it is requested that you provide flowers to someone you love as Helen always reminded her son-in-law to provide the flowers while she was still alive or a donation that supports a charity that helps individuals in need.

The family will have an open graveside service at the Knollkreg Memorial Park on August 10th at 2:00 P.M. and would be honored with your presence. The family will have a public viewing from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Knollkreg Chapel Mausoleum prior to the graveside service. The family is honored that Pastor Mike McCoy (Helens favorite Pastor) will speak at the entombment.

Pallbearers will be Don Tolliver, Jackie Tolliver, Jason Tolliver, Bradley Fleenor, Larry Tolliver, Cody Johnson, Rick Poston and Mark Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Tolliver, Johnny Fleenor, and Clyde Tolliver.

May Helen Rest in Peace and her family find Peace in knowing that Helen was a born again Christian who has ascended to her eternal home.

Frost Funeral Home & Cremation Services are honored to serve the family of Mrs. Pruitt.
