Glenn B. Poe, 84, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on September 4, 2022.
He was born February 13, 1938 in Washington County, Virginia. He graduated from Cleveland High School. He moved to the Northern Virginia area where he worked for the Fairfax City Police Department until his retirement in 1987. He later worked as a Deputy for the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department. He spent his adult life dedicated to the law enforcement community. He took pride in his work and always had a story or two to share about his experiences and adventures. Outside of his career, Glenn had a lifelong love of Basset and Blood Hounds, dubbing his retirement home as “Hound Dog Hill”.
Glenn is preceded in death by his wife Doris Ann (Halsey) Poe, his parents Emmett C. Poe and Fressie O’Dell (Barker) Poe, and his brother E.C. Poe.
Survivors include his daughter Natalie Poe LaMay and her husband David Giacalone, three Grandchildren - Niko, Erin, and Finn; his sister Hazel Phillips (Hal), his brother Boyd Poe, his sister Midge Selfe, and his dear companion, Phyllis Greer, along with extended family and close friends.
A visitation will occur from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Frost Funeral Home, 250 East Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia. There will be a private internment.
