Gladys “Sally” Marcella Fleenor Childress, 72, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2022 with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Childress was born on October 20, 1950 to the late Zollie Calvin Fleenor and Gladys Evelyn Whicker Fleenor.
Mrs. Childress enjoyed birds, plants, a good laugh and bringing cheer to others. She liked to spend her weekends listening to gospel music and thrifting with her sisters. However, more than anything, she loved her family and the Lord. She was an active member of Calvary Bible Church.
Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Calvin Childress; son, Chad Eric Childress, Grandson, William Andrew “Drew” Fleenor; sister, Ruth Alvateen Fleenor Hilliard; brother, Robert William Fleenor; niece, Janice Mae Countiss.
Survivors include her daughter, Ellen Fleenor Howard (Max); granddaughter, Elizabeth Gladys Fleenor (Julien); grandsons, Hunter Garth Howard and Jordon Samuel Howard (Maggie Mae); great-grandchildren, Silvia Grace, Emmarie Jane, and Zeland Mathias; sisters, Trula Mae Countiss and Linda Sue Jackson; and special friend, Louise Koontz.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2022 at Calvary Bible Church. A service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Chaplin David Scott and Pastor Mark Hill officiating. A committal service will follow in procession to Knollkreg Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Chester Countiss, Dwayne Leonard, Patrick Combs, Shane Ray, Brady Scardo, and Walker Sauls.
