Freddie Ray Badger

With deep sadness but humble acceptance of Gods will we announce the passing of Freddie Ray Badger of Abingdon, Va., on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

Fred was the son of the late Freddie Ray Badger, Sr. and Annie Mae Badger. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Carol Badger; son, Eddie Ray Badger and daughter-in-law, Amy Badger.

Fred leaves behind his daughter, Dianna Kay Badger Esterline; granddaughter, Misty Raye Phillips and husband, Zachary Adam Phillips; grandson, Adam Badger; Jenny Boggs whom he loved like a daughter; and a very special best friend, Linda Thomas.

Fred was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, pappy and friend. Fred was a wonder man, you never seen him without a thousand-watt smile and a hand stretched to help anyone who needed a hand. He never met a stranger.

Fred was a member of the Jericho Shrine in Johnson City, Tenn. and knew no man ever stood taller than when he kneeled to help a child. Fred was also an avid Ham Radio operator where he was known and loved as “Freddie the Freeloader”. More than anything he was a Godly man and he loved his family as well as his horses, he was a true cowboy.

At Fred’s request no services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
