Abingdon, Va.
Ernest W. Montgomery, 87, a lifelong resident of the Denton Valley community, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born on August 24, 1934, to the late Oscar and Nettie Ruth Smith Montgomery. Ernest
enjoyed fishing and farming. He was a retired steel worker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Barbara Montgomery; one aunt, Louise Smith; special cousin, Linda Farmer; numerous other cousins; and special friend, Allen Price.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral procession will follow to Montgomery Cemetery for a graveside service with Pastor Herbert Bailey officiating.
Pallbearers will be Allen Price, Sam Price, Paul Johnson, Edward Farmer, Justin Farmer and Scott Widener.
