Elizabeth Ann Thomas, 73, of Damascus, VA, passed away peacefully, entering her heavenly home with her granddaughter by her side.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas; her daughter, Armanda Parks; her father, Willard Widener; and her sisters Tina, Geneva, and Louise.
Elizabeth leaves behind a large and devoted family who adored her deeply; mother; Mary Widener; her sister Elsie Thomas (Roger); and her brothers June Widener (Kertrena) and Tim Widener.
grandchildren; Katie Parks and significant other Adam, Melanie Parks, Lane Parks and fiancée Brianna, Casey Johnson and husband Scotty, Allie Parks, and Abbie Parks. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Waylon, Abel, Aubree, and Ryker Huffman; Kinzleigh Colvin, Adalyn and Layton Parks, Hudson Bailey, and Stetson Johnson. One special niece whom she loved like a daughter; Rita Owens and many other nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was an incredible mother, daughter, sister, and an even more extraordinary grandmother. She was the glue that held her family together—steady, loving, and unwavering. She loved Jesus, coffee and spoiling her grandbabies. She worked for many years at the Cherokee Restaurant, where she was known for her kindness, warm smile, heart of gold and her famous egg sandwiches.
Beautiful, strong, a little stubborn, and endlessly loving, Elizabeth touched every life around her. Her legacy of compassion, family devotion, and unconditional love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May we all strive to have a heart like hers.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Glade Spring, Virginia with Pastor Nick Shortridge officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 P.M.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
