Elijah Harmon Wolfe, age 71, affectionately known as, “Daddy, Poppy and Sheep”, entered into the presence of the Lord surrounded by his loving family on March 2, 2025.
Elijah was preceded in death by his parents, John Graybeal Wolfe, Sr. and Gracie Wolfe Ferguson, his brothers, John Wolfe, Jr. and David Wolfe, a special niece, Michelle Renee’ Wolfe and his beloved dog and side-kick, Tucker.
Elijah is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jovella Wolfe. His daughters, Jamie Starr Lane “Sissy” and husband, Adam and Morghan Wolfe Clark “Petey” and husband, Ryan. His granddaughter, hunting buddy, and pride and joy, Kennedy Grace Morgan. His brother and best friend, Timothy Wolfe and wife, Kerry. His loving sister, Loretta Shank, and husband, Terry and many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as “Uncle”.
Elijah was an accomplished welder, earning numerous awards and was often referred to as the best welder and machinist around. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, who enjoyed waving his “Terrible Towel” and being an arm-chair coach. He passed his love of football onto all of his girls. Elijah was a Lodi legend and true outdoorsman. He loved spending time roaming the woods of his home place. He also spent many an hour on the side of a river bank and he lived for a campfire by the creek. Scoping out the next best trout hole was his favorite past-time.
Elijah was also the resident chef. He made a mean skillet of fried potatoes, the best cornbread ever, and he was our grill master. Elijah found much joy in cooking for and feeding people. He loved trying new recipes and knew the best spice and seasoning blend to use for every dish.
Elijah never met a stranger. You knew he liked you if you were assigned one of his frequently given nicknames. He was a gifted story-teller and was without a doubt, the family comedian. If you ever heard a ‘Lijh story, then you know. We were certainly blessed with a one-of-kind and he will be sorely missed.
Our family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hiett and Dr. Ian for the compassion shown to Elijah during his illness.
A visitation will be held on March 7, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7p.m. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Campbell officiating. A private family burial will occur at a later time.
