Edward Arnold Lawson, (affectionately known as “Ted”) 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, with his loving wife by his side.
Born on August 25, 1950, in Abingdon, Virginia, Edward was the son of the late George and Margaret Snead Lawson. A humble and hardworking man, Edward found joy in life’s simple pleasures—time with his family, the satisfaction of a well-crafted piece of wood, and the comfort of a home filled with love. His hands were skilled, and his heart was generous. He built more than just things—he built a life of quiet strength and enduring devotion to those around him. Edward’s greatest pride and joy was his family, and no one adored him more than his grandchildren. Known lovingly as “Pops,” he may not have said much, but his love was felt in every small gesture.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Melody Bowers, whom he dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife and best friend, Gayle Lawson; his son, Brian Lawson; and his daughter, Nicole Lawson (Marissa), who will carry his love with them always. He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Lawson and Marvin Lawson (Thelma); two sisters, Barbara Bradley and Mary Trigg Bradley; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild who brought joy and light to his later years; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed to know him.
Edward’s life will be honored during a visitation on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Frost Funeral Home, with Pastor Jake Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers will include Mike Warren, Mike Stevens, Travis Bowers, Michael Brooks, Leonard Yarber, Marvin Lawson, and Travis Sherfey—men who stood with Edward in life and now walk with him in spirit.
Though Edward has departed this world, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he passed down, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Frost Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mr. Lawson.
