Edith Marie Helton Fields, 87, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Washington County, Virginia, on March 11, 1937, to the late Harvey Scott Helton and Mary Callie Helton. Edith lived her entire life in the surrounding community, working diligently on the family farm and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Garnett Smith Fields. Edith also endured the loss of her brothers: Scott Helton and Emmitt Helton, and sisters: Rose Mutter, Irene Ennis, Sally Rust & Elsie Walden, who all passed away before their youngest, beloved sister.
Edith spent her life as a woman who held the values of family, friendship & faith most dear. She was a long-standing member of Calvary Baptist Church of Abingdon, Virginia.
Her grieving family include her daughter: Connie Jean Fields Alexander (& husband David), grandson: Robert Kelly Munsey, and great grandchildren: Kamden Munsey & Raelynn Munsey.
Edith also leaves behind a large community of cherished nephews and nieces.

The family welcomes friends on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Frost Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date with announcement to follow. She will be privately interred with her husband at The Rust Family Cemetery in Abingdon, Virginia.
