Earnestine Skeens

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

Earnestine Skeens, July 8th, 1960 --- July 5th, 2022.

My beautiful wife of forty-five years, passed away at 7:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 5th, 2022. She was the love of my life. I will mourn her forever. Earnestine was a Master’s Level, Licensed Social Worker, and worked at Woodridge Hospital for eleven years. She loved her patients, and put her giant heart into her work.

Earnestine graduated from Radford University School of Social Work in 2003. She graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a 3.86 G. P. A. She had completed a three year internship toward her Licensed Clinical Social Work.

During her year’s long battle, special attention should be given to her sister, Sally and her husband Joey, who never gave up on her.

Ernie loved wildflowers, butterflies, dragonflies, and her 20 year old kitty, Dandy. When she was sick, Dandy would reach for and hold her hand.

Earnestine is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Rufus, her mother, Imal Eichler, sisters, Linda, Sally, Peggy, and Edith, and brothers, Donald, Tim, and Jerry. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Don Eichler, and her biological father, Clinard Skeens, and one brother, Danny Skeens.

Ernie was beloved of, and by, her daughters, Angella Klose and husband Bill, and by her other daughter, Tracy Fleenor and husband Brandon.

Grieving also are her granddaughters Abby, Lydia, and Isabella, and by grandsons Scott and Alex.

Earnestine was of Baptist Faith, and absent her body, she is in Heaven with her precious grandparents King Saul and Sis Blankenship.

Rufus loves her so much, and will join her again someday soon. Nothing is ever over.

This obituary was lovingly written by her husband, Rufus.

2 Corinthians 5:7-8

King James Version

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight

8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
