Doris Gaye Smith

Doris Gaye Smith, 78, passed away on March 5, 2026.

Doris was a woman known for her kindness, strength, and deep love for the people and animals in her life. She had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Friends and family will remember her as someone who cared deeply about others and lived her life with compassion.

She loved her animals dearly and found joy in caring for them. Doris was also very patriotic and took pride in her country. Above all, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, whom she loved wholeheartedly.

Doris shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Vernon Smith. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and loyalty.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Smith; her sons Chris Smith and his wife Pam, Jamie Smith, and Don Smith and his wife Mina; and her beloved grandchildren Mallory and Don Jr. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Goodson   

Doris will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, love, and giving spirit will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held privately at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
