Donald E. Gayler, age 83, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at Wellmont Select Specialty in Bristol, Tennessee.
He was born March 11, 1935, in Noel, Missouri, a son of the late Raymond Gayler and Lois Lancaster Gayler. He retired from the United States Army in 1975 after 23 years of service. He later retired as a salesman for Sears after 22 years of service. He served as director of the Glade Area Senior Citizens and was a volunteer at Glade Food Bank. He ran the Share Program for 15 years, was an avid reader, and a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Gayler.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lois Gayler of Glade Spring, VA; two sisters, Shirley Vannoy and Sylvia Anderson, both of Oklahoma; an aunt, Margarette Warnick; a special nephew, Bill Gayler; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Musselwhite and husband Robert, Carolyn Keesee, and Rita Colley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Rose Mausoleum in Glade Spring, Virginia with Pastor Paul Griffith officiating. Entombment will follow the funeral service.
