Deloris Joy Hurd, of Glade Spring, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Worley and Ethel Thomas; five sisters and three brothers. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church for 70 years.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ernest Hurd; daughter, Wendi Hurd of Asheville, NC; son, Tim Hurd and wife Jessica of Glade Spring; grandson, Bradan Hurd; brother, Kenny Thomas; a special niece, Vikki Widener and her beloved pet, Angel.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Home Nursing Company for the care they provided.
A celebration of her life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 327 Grace St., Glade Spring, Va.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
