Delma Lewis, of Damascus, Va., passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Delma was born on October 28th in Johnson County, Tenn., to the late James Jeff Lewis and Ruth Blevins Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her five brothers, Ben, Joe, James, Byron, Phillman and one sister, Margie Hutchinson.
She was a graduate of Johnson County High School and was noted as most likely to succeed. She also graduated from Mary Dalton Frye Business School. Delma worked at United Telephone for many years and retired from Nations Bank. She was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church and attended Zion United Methodist Church. She loved her church and church family.
She was an avid reader and liked to collect antiques and play bridge.
She is survived by one daughter, Gwen Smith and husband Andy of Damascus; her grandsons, Justin Shane and Tyler Jordan who were the “light of her life”; brother, Bob Lewis and wife Brenda of Shady Valley, Tenn.; sister, Barbara Hutchinson and husband Lowe of Shady Valley, Tenn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Jeff Lewis and special friend, Betty Greer.
A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, Va. with Jeff Lewis and Pastor James Oxendine officiating. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
