Debra Renee Jordan Stewart



Debra Renee Jordan Stewart, 68, went to be in the arms of the Lord on Saturday, November 16, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.


She was born in Russell County, Virginia; daughter of the late Beecher and Josie Evans Jordan. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 15 years, Mike Stewart; and loving sister, Peggy Jordan Austin. She was a very proud and loving stay at home mother. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Shaylyn, and her dog, Buddy. She loved listening to country music and attending concerts, especially those of her favorite artist, Ronnie McDowell. Debbie enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, and talking on the phone to her very special aunt, Bonnie Pearson. She also enjoyed taking trips and spending time with her amazing group of friends, the Ya-Ya's.


She is survived by her daughter, Ali Schae Jordan; significant other, Dale Merlette of Saint Paul, Virginia; granddaughter, Shaylyn Harper Merlette of Saint Paul, Virginia; step-daughter, Jennifer Daniel and husband, Bill Daniel, and their seven children of Randleman, North Carolina; her brother, Sam Jordan and wife, Gwen Jordan of Castlewood, Virginia; nephew, Matthew Jordan and wife, Heather Jordan of Saint Paul, Virginia; her brother-in-law, Larry Austin of Saint Paul, Virginia; a very special niece, Amanda Austin of Hillsville, Virginia; and nephew, Anthony Austin; two sisters-in-law, Kellee’ Stewart of Castlewood, Virginia and Deena Osborne of Coeburn, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews also survive.


The family would also like to recognize a very special friend, Angie Goforth, for her generous gift of life, giving Debbie's family 22 extra years of memories.


A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the Temple Hill Mausoleum Chapel of Love Castlewood, Virginia.


Pallbearers will be Dale Merlette, Larry Austin, Matthew Jordan, Bill Daniel, Parker Fields, and Patrick Fields.


Honorary Pallbearers will be Anthony Austin, Joe Jordan, Andy Shepherd, Larry "Beaver" Evans, Phil Moore, Steve McCoy, and Christian Goforth.


Special thanks to the Holston Valley Hospital and Ballad Health Hospice Team for all of their care and compassion.
