Danny Clinton Waters

Danny Clinton Waters, husband of Nancy Jo Sutherland Waters, passed from this life into the next on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his home in Damascus, Virginia.

Danny was born September 30, 1950, in Mountain City, Tennessee, son of the late Wesley V.A. (Vernon) Waters, Sr. and Sarah Gladys Forrester Waters.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Jo; brother Wesley Waters and wife Tommie of Meadowview, VA; daughter Sarah Allen Waters Tenney (Mike) of Columbus, OH and son Brian Clinton Waters (Danielle) of Christiansburg, VA; beloved grandchildren Jackson Thomas Waters, Mary  Allen Tenney, Kayla Beth Waters, Caroline Beth Tenney, Samuel Benjamin Waters, Lucy Josephine Waters, and Joel Michael Tenney; uncle Jim Forrester and wife Helen; nephews Trey Waters and Jason Waters (Rachel); niece Kourtney Sutherland Williams (Ben); and many special cousins and relatives.

Danny grew up in Damascus, Virginia and spent many summers with his grandmother and cousins in Taylor’s Valley, Virginia. He was a graduate of Holston High School and National Business College, Roanoke, Va where he was a member of Alpha Kappa Phi fraternity. For many years he worked for HCMF Corp. of Blacksburg, Va and retired from Cranwell Group Holdings.

Danny was quick to make friends and enjoyed many lasting friendships from his childhood in Damascus and years living in Roanoke and Christiansburg before moving back to Damascus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, weekends at the lake, beach trips with family, fraternity gatherings and anytime with his grandchildren and their friends. He faithfully attended Providence Presbyterian Church of Christiansburg, Virginia and Taylor’s Valley Christian Church of Taylor’s Valley, Virginia.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Damascus Methodist Church, Damascus, Va. Family will visit with friends in the hour before the service at the church.
