Claude Daniel Duncan, 84, of Abingdon, Virginia passed away peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2022.

Claude was born March 24, 1938 in Brumley Gap, Virginia to the late Carl and Amanda "Mandie" Duncan. He was a life-long resident of Brumley Gap. Claude was a beloved father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. Nothing was more important to him than family. Claude never met a stranger and considered you a friend from the moment he met you. He never missed a chance to go to a family gathering, a party, or a “boot scootin.” He was well known for his plentiful gardens and his love for the land. His family accused him of planting “extra” so that he could give it away to family and neighbors. He was a veteran of the Korean War and could still recite his service number. Knowing Claude meant that you had a true friend. The only thing bigger than his smile was his heart.

Claude is survived by his wife, Betty Taylor Duncan; two daughters, Teresa Duncan McCracken (Jeff Worley) and Rhonda Duncan; granddaughter, Kelly Wherrey (Mike); great grandchildren, Brody and Madison Wherrey; brother, Johnny Duncan (Ella Mae); mother of his children, Betty Fields Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the Brumley Gap Fire Department, 19297 Brumley Gap Rd., Abingdon, Virginia, 24210.

Frost Funeral Home is honored to serve the Duncan family.
