Christopher Shawn “Chris” Arnold

Christopher Shawn “Chris” Arnold passed away on March 6, 2026. Chris was born in Abingdon, Virginia, and was a special needs individual who truly loved life. He could light up a room with his smile whenever he walked in.

Chris found joy in many things, including going on outings to help with the food pantry, attending sporting events with his family, swimming, fishing, riding his lawn mower, attending church, and spending time with family and friends. His favorite foods were pizza, hamburgers, and fish. Chris graduated from the Hillsville High School Special Education Class in 2001 in Hillsville, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cindy McKemy; his grandparents, Robert Lee “Bobby” Arnold and Elizabeth Ann “Belise” Kirk; and his uncle, Edward “Eddy” Arnold.

Chris is survived by his brother, Alex S. Clayman, and his “Dad,” Billy Clayman. He is also survived by his great-uncle Jerry Belise and Debbie; Aunt Jenny Carmack and Rusty; Uncle Tim Arnold and Jill; and Aunt Kathy Harless. Chris had several cousins whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. Chris also had a very special extended family including Sandra Jessee, Steve Johnson, Daniel Artrip, and their family, whom he loved dearly.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. William Handy, Lora Reynolds, NP, and Diane Hawkins. The family would also like to thank his special caregiver, Sharon Doss and her husband BoBo; Cydney Minnick; and the staff of Highlands Community Services, including Laura Counts, Morgan Hess, Heather Crookshank, Ashley Heflin, and special nurse Connie Alexander. Appreciation is also extended to the Day Support staff, Debra Rowe, special friend Amanda Phillips, Angie Holmes-Benton, and Baby Grace Harless and Baby Caitlyn Arnold, and the girls at Blue Mountain Therapy, Kelsey, and Kristen.

Honorary pallbearers are Hank Mckemy, Rusty Carmack, David W. Harless, Billy Arnold, Timothy Arnold, Jacob Arnold, Eric Arnold, Dustin Carmack, Canaan Harless, Josh Testerman, Zac Testerman, Dustin Minnick, Mathew Minnick, and Joey Minnick.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home with a service to follow at 7:00 P.M. with Bro. David W. Harless officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 12 at 3:30 P.M. at Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum in Abingdon, Va with Bro. David W. Harless officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 3:15 P.M.
