Charles “Craig” Trivett

Updated: Dec 31, 2025

Charles “Craig” Trivett, 66, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 doing what he loved best—serving the community.

Craig was born on August 27, 1959, in Washington County and was the son of Milton and Aleese Trivett.

Craig moved away for a period of time but later returned to Washington County to help his father, Milton, in the family septic business, and has lived in Washington County since then, faithfully serving the community.

Craig dedicated his life to his business, Trivett’s Septic Service, and it was one of his proudest accomplishments. He was known for his kindness, his willingness to help, and for never meeting a stranger. Craig was truly one of a kind, and if you knew him, you knew that.

Nothing meant more to Craig than his family. The love of his life, Missy, whom he often referred to as “sweet little Missy,” was his rock and his very best friend for the last 25 years. Craig never had biological children; however, Missy’s son, Dakota, was his pride and joy. He couldn’t have loved him more, and he beamed with pride when Dakota decided to join the family business.

Another pride and joy in Craig’s life was his grandson, Stetson. There was no sweeter side of Craig than when he was with Stetson. They shared a love of classic cars and often debated which brand was better—Chevrolet or Ford. Craig was also very proud of his daughter-in-law, Hannah, who has been adamant about keeping the family business alive and well. She obtained all required licenses to ensure the business will continue for many years to come.

The family business runs deep, and we plan to keep Craig’s legacy alive for generations.

Craig leaves behind many people he loved and cherished deeply, including his mother-in-law, Naomi Stanberry; brothers-in-law Harley Stanberry and Charlie Stanberry Jr.; and sister-in-law Julie Humphreys and her husband, Jeremy. He is also survived by his cherished nephews, Sawyer Stanberry, Jett Humphreys, and Jaxon Humphreys.

He also leaves behind countless loving friends—too many to name—but he loved each one dearly and spent much of his free time with them.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Milton Trivett and Myrtle Aleese Trivett.

A celebration of Craig’s life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Azen Baptist Church in Konnarock, Virginia. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a graveside service to follow.

Pallbearers will include Dean Shumate, Brian Testerman, James Axtell, Wallace Brabson, Jarred Fulton-Axtell, Roy Testerman, and Roman Blevins.

Honorary Pallbearers will include Jared Sauls, Scott Testerman, Jeff Carbury, and Brian Testerman, Jr.

Craig lived life to the fullest and made the most of his time on earth. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. And one last thing, Craig would have wanted to say, “Who would have thought it, sh*t bought it.”
