Mrs. Charlene Isabelle Armstrong, former resident of Enfield, CT, daughter of the late Edward Brander and Mary Isabel Macfarlane, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019 at the age of 82, in Abingdon, VA.
Charlene was predeceased by her husband Henry Leslie Armstrong and her brother Donald Macfarlane. Charlene is survived by her children, Carrie Waszkelewicz and her husband Paul of Glastonbury, CT; Dave MacAulay and his wife Ginny of Billerica, MA; Kyle MacAulay and his wife Julie of Exeter, NH; Kate Shockley and her husband David of Abingdon, VA; her sister Cynthia Lyman of Enfield, CT andbrother Doug Macfarlane of Arizona.She is also survived by her grandchildren Molly Waszkelewicz, Sam Waszkelewicz, Morgan MacAulay, Sarah MacAulay, Nicole Stackhouse, Rachel Shockley, Emma Shockley and Hope Shockley, and her great-grandson Henry Stackhouse.
Charlene was full of personality, independent and adventurous. She was famous for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was a fierce friend and mother. Charlene always knew what she wanted and was not afraid of telling anyone how she felt. She was a faithful member of her church and was always there for those who needed a helping hand. Charlene was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors. She enjoyed hunting for antiques throughout New England and loved her cats Roxanne and Zorro. Charlene was beloved and left an impression on everyone who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in Enfield, CT in the spring and laid to rest in Ipswich, MA.
