On August 13, 2021, Catherine Marie Pendergast, loving wife, mother of 4 children, grandmother of 4 grandchildren, and a true angel entered eternal rest with the Lord at the age of 73.
Catherine was born on October 29, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was passionate about serving others in many ministries throughout Southwest VA. including many decades in the Washington County School System, Faith in Action, Loads of Love, and many others. She loved worshiping at Christ the King Catholic Church Abingdon, St. Anne’s Catholic Church Bristol, First Baptist Church Damascus and others. She was known for her tireless energy helping, encouraging, blessing, and caring for everyone she met.
Her eternal spirit now rests with our Creator and only Joy remains for all of us touched by the love of Cathy. A very special thank you is given to Mary and Kristi of Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia http://www.hospicechoice.com/ who cared for our family and helped her transition in peace with her husband Joseph by her side and her entire family surrounding her with love.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Frank Brooks of Cleveland Ohio and her oldest daughter, Michelle Pendergast, Abingdon.
She is survived by Joseph, her husband of 55 years, her remaining three children and four grandchildren, Patrick (wife Tena and son Nicholas), John (wife Becky and son Jack and daughter Katie), and Jennifer (husband Jim and son Clay) and many siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.
Cathy will be remembered at the 8:00 A.M. daily mass at Christ the King Catholic Church at 820 E. Main St. in Abingdon on August 27, 2021, with Fr. Francis X. Musolooza officiating. The graveside service at Forest Hills Memory Gardens located at 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Graveside service will commence at approximately 9:30 A.M.
