Carrie Mae Fritz, 71, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.
Mae was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and a daughter of the late James L. Boone and Elizabeth Parris Boone. She was retired from the Washington County School System after serving 37 years as a cafeteria cook at Bethel and Rhea Valley Elementary Schools.
Mae was an avid gardener, she enjoyed cooking and canning, attending church and working on the farm. She also loved watching her favorite reality show American Idol. Mae was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a former member of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, R.C. Fritz, Jr.; son, Jeff Fritz (Betsy); grandchildren and lights of her life, Lauren Sauls (Jared), Andrew Fritz and Matthew Fritz; great granddaughter, Everly Ray Sauls and a great grandson on the way; sisters, Peggy Gilley (Jack), Eula Widener (Jerry), Brenda Morrison (Dean), Judy Grimlsey (Keith), Jean Moretz (Wayne) and Diane Grimsley (Kyle); brothers, Jimmy Boone (Mary), Danny Boone and Bobby Boone (Brenda); brother-in-law, Thomas Fritz (Tammy); sister-in-law, Carla Hayes (John); many special nieces, nephews, and her beloved boston terrier, George.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Home Nursing Co. and nurses, Donna, JoEtta, Lexie, Caleb and Michelle Hartzog. Also a special thanks to Mae’s siblings for the love and wonderful care they showed during her illness.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Beulah Baptist Church, 19126 Monroe Rd., Meadowview, Va. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., at the church with Bro. Dwayne Dillard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Morrison, Lynn Widener, Chris Moretz, Tim Widener, Brent Odum, Josh Boone, Michael Hand and Jimmy Fritz. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Thomas, Dustin Eades, Tom Fizer, Tom Necessary and Suthan Kailasapallai.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105, in honor of St. Jude patient, Kael Hill.
