Carolyn Long Lunsford, age 88, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at her home.
She was born May 2, 1933, in Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of the late John Edgar Long and Leo Clifton Long. She lived most of her life in Washington County and was a graduate of Greendale High School. She worked for the Virginia State Police and was a long-time employee of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of Greendale Chapel.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Wynegar, Inez Eades and Gay Willis; and one brother, B.J. (Jack) Long.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Carl R. Lunsford; one daughter, Angela Sullins and husband Jeff; two grandchildren, Justin Sullins and Kendall Sullins; two sisters-in-law, Norma Wright and Charlotte Faris and husband Pete; two brothers-in-law, Preston Willis and M. A. Lunsford and wife Mary; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Men of Greendale Chapel will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Greendale Chapel, P. O. Box 1314, Abingdon, VA 24212.
