Brenda Kay Self, age 72 of Abingdon, VA passed away Friday May 8, 2020 at Johnston Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 28, 1948 in Washington County, Va. She is a member of the Baptist Faith.
Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Dixie Gobble, her father, Bernard Gobble, her sister, Evelyn Leih, and two brothers, Bob Gobble and Scott Gobble.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James “Jay” Self Sr., daughter Pam Rock (Steve Rock), and son, James Self Jr. (Verlaunda Self), sister Linda Riffey (Bill Riffey), brother Randal Gobble, grandchildren,1st Lt. Lori Rock, Beth Rock, Jaime Self, Brayden Self, and one great-grandchild, Cameron Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held for the immediate family at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Minister Ron Musick officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve and Beth Rock, Brayden and Jaime Self, Randall and Tony Gobble.
